Emergency Department Registered Nurse

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses with a minimum of 3 years' recent ED experience to join busy hospital Emergency Departments. This role offers the opportunity to work in fast-paced clinical environments, providing high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals presenting with a wide range of medical, surgical and trauma-related conditions.

As an Emergency Department Registered Nurse, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to assess, prioritise and manage patients requiring urgent and emergency care. You will be expected to think critically, respond confidently in high-pressure situations, and deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care while maintaining exceptional clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing clinical monitoring

  • Triage patients using recognised triage systems

  • Provide care within the resuscitation area, including emergency interventions

  • Recognise and respond promptly to deteriorating patients

  • Administer medications and intravenous therapies in accordance with hospital policies

  • Assist with emergency procedures and trauma management

  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions and outcomes

  • Collaborate effectively with medical officers, allied health professionals and nursing colleagues

  • Advocate for patient safety and deliver compassionate, patient-centred care

  • Maintain infection prevention and workplace health and safety standards

  • Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive team culture

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse

  • Minimum 3 years' recent Emergency Department nursing experience

  • Demonstrated experience in triage, resuscitation and acute emergency care

  • Current ALS certification (highly regarded)

  • Sound clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong documentation and clinical reporting skills

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams

  • A flexible, adaptable and professional approach to patient care
